The ruins at Polonnaruwa are a UNESCO World Heritage Site and all that remains of the royal ancient city of the Kingdom of Polonnaruwa. Buildings, temples, statues and stupas dot the wooded landscape as far as you can see, some in various stages of reconstruction. This here is Kiri Vihara, a 95 foot (30 metre) tall stupa that is believed to have been built more than 1,500 years ago.
